Spacious Cookery

When homeowners Richard and Roseanne Smith decided to remodel their New York kitchen, they had a specific wish list in mind. As the owners of World of Home Improvements Inc., a contracting business, the Smiths themselves are involved in many facets of the home improvement industry, including kitchen and bath design. When they tasked Bruce Bauerle of Five Star Kitchens with the challenge of remodeling their space, they also contributed their own expertise.

The parents of two young children, the Smiths desired a large, modern kitchen complete with a user-friendly laundry room and pantry. They also wished to open the space by creating a grand cathedral ceiling.

Bauerle created additional space by knocking down an existing wall that separated the dining room from the kitchen. This opened the room to the rest of the home and created a less-confined feeling. To capitalize on the existing area, Bauerle incorporated a corner stove into the design. Additional special features include a built-in flat screen TV, a farm country sink, and an integrated dishwasher and refrigerator. The finished kitchen is an open, spacious area that offers the homeowners and their children the opportunity to gather for meal preparation, dining or even a little TV watching.
