Designer's Dream Kitchen

Situated in Rockville Centre, New York, this residence is the place designer Nancy Riley, CKD, of Five Star Kitchens calls home. Though she has spent years designating kitchens for a myriad of clients, it was finally time to tackle her own culinary quarters. Despite the fact that she perfectly understood her needs and wants – a desk area, a display place to showcase collectibles, and a timeless aesthetic – Riley discovered that her overabundance of ideas was actually making it difficult to decide on a design.

So to start her task, Riley gutted the kitchen and began from a blank canvas. She rearranged the configuration to open it to the family room – a critical arrangement since she and her family entertain often. Medallion Cabinetry featuring the Central Park West door style is topped with two finishes: Morel and Vineyard. Combining these finishes and pricing them in a cost-effective manner was challenging.

Lady’s Dream granite tops and counters, and a custom-designed backsplash complements the countertops. A specialty island deemed an island shelf adds an unusual, unexpected touch.

The result is a culinary space that brings years of experience and a designer’s personal preferences into one show stopping kitchen.
